a sonnet for the hiphop generation

You know that we won’t ever have good luck
Listenin’ to what some people say
They think we ain’t for real.  Like we just play.
We might not be on top, but we’re not stuck.
My generation – we don’t give a fuckchuckd-1rmss9s
We hustle, struggle, grind to get our pay
You best believe that we will have our day
The old dog has to learn from the young buck
Because when we are old and twice as wise
The education of the streets unfolds
And we will be the kings upon a throne
The truth will be discovered in our eyes
And we will take the world and all it holds
This is our future – this is what we own.
